I am not exaggerating when I say Maya changed my life. Learning to listen to my body when it came to food was revolutionary. It’s not only cuing into hunger and making choices that make my body feel good without “dieting”. It’s also choosing to have a dessert and have no feelings of guilt or shame attached to it. Our work together helped me cue into my body about other things too, like giving myself time to put myself first, get rest when I need it, and connect with friends. I even enjoy and look forward to exercising, letting go of the guilt and shame I used to feel when I couldn’t do as much as the person next to me. Doing what feels good for my body is changing the way I think about it and me as a person who is deserving to do what is best for me all the time.

​"I am  proud to say that I am one of Maya Carl’s success stories.  We began together in May and by the end of our 6 months I had the body back that I’ve been missing for the last 3 years.  I’m just 5 pounds away from  where I was just before I lost the man of my heart. Like many other good dieters I have my history: Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, the cheat meal diet, Atkins, a nutritional diet,  the grapefruit diet, and a good skin diet from my dermatologist when I was in high school.   Each of those diets worked their magic but it didn’t last forever and sooner or later I was back to a place I didn’t want to be and I was on the hunt once again for the last diet. Maya was the only one who didn’t offer me a diet.  We began by breathing at each session, and talking about my eating life and at each session Maya offered a few strategies to experiment with,  but just a few and  no lists of forbidden foods, in fact, it I was charged to eat what I liked.  What? What an idea, to eat to enjoy. Soon she had me read a great book - Intuitive Eating…and I started listening to my body and filling lighter and happier. I took charge of my eating and because timing is everything, in the midst of our work together I went on a very unique trip to Cambodia with a group of great students and teachers and even in 95 degree heat, with lots of wonderful distractions I stopped eating a lot and returned home with a shrunken stomach. So Maya was the catalyst. It’s funny too, that trips away from your routine often put a monkey wrench into a diet… but then what Maya is offering was not a diet and I felt free to use my Maya strategies while I was away because they made sense here in Cambodia and everywhere. Hard to believe that I’m almost back to where I want to be.  Maybe I’m already there. Maya, thanks so much for getting the ball rolling, for supporting my movement back to myself without the scale, and without deprivation.  I feel like I’m on fresh sold ground without a diet in sight.
